Welcome to my 2012 project, which for this year is a Project 366! My aim for my page is to publish one photo everyday that depicts what is happening in my life. The idea is to keep this as a record, later in printed form, to enjoy years down the track.

Day 186 - Giggles
After a few days of Henry not feeling his usual cheery self, this afternoon he was back in his usual fine form. We visited Sarah and Cooper in the afternoon and with Peta, Olivia (Ava was sick) and Sue there, he chatted away - even more than he usually does when we are out visiting. Back at home later, he giggled away at a video he found on my Facebook page. You may have seen the one with the little girl, soap bubbles and the snappy dog. He thought it was hilarious and played it over and over giggling along. The boy is back!

Day 128 - Someone Who Inspires You
I am not the kind of person who has heroes, nor do I have a mentor , so today's brief was tricky to fulfil. After a bit of thought, I came up with someone who has featured on my blog before and that is my friend Peta.
Many times I have thought of Peta, usually when I have been up in the middle of the night with a much younger crying Henry. The reason I have thought of Peta is that she has twins! When things have been really tough, I have reminded myself that Peta did this with two babies and she survived.
The other person in my picture, is Henry. Henry is the reason that I keep my blog going. When I am busy and feel like I don't have time to keep up with so many things, my blog is something that I know I have to press on with. After having my 2011 project printed into a book, I realised how worth it, it was to keep the project going, so that one day Henry can read all about my life and his childhood.
To inject a little inspiration into my blog this month, I have decided to play along with the challenge presented on Fat Mum Slim's blog (www.fatmumslim.com.au) and for today the theme was Day 7: Someone Who Inspires You

Day 108 - Peta's Birthday Portrait
Happy Birthday Peta!
Peta and I went and had coffee this morning at Art Oven in Manuka and followed up the coffee with a little trip to the portrait gallery. Having not really been for a good look there before (even though I have been there a couple of times) we were looking forward to enjoying the collection. Additionally we were very happy to find that the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 was currently on exhibit. You can see the photos that were on display here. I had a few favourites, including Mum by Christopher Pearce, Romela by Regan Kennedy, Frog Hunter by Mathew Abbott and Nikki and Nick by Emma Phillips. The one I liked most though was Caravan Kids by Jennifer Stocks.
Outside the exhibit, Peta and I enjoyed playing with the photo corner which had been set up for taking our own portraits! Here is Peta in her birthday portrait. I look forward to seeing what she has come up with for my portrait!

Day 12 - And The Eyes Have It
I never realised how hard it was to take a photo of your own eye (with your eye closed too by the way). My suggestion, if you ever decide to try this, is that the macro lens is not your friend either.
Anyway, the reason for the eye picture is only because Peta and I had our eyebrows waxed this morning with Henry in tow. Henry watched with great interest as Peta had hers done, intently watching Deb smear on the purple wax. However when it was my turn he wasn't so sure - bursting into tears until Peta brought him even closer for a better look. I wonder what he makes of everything.
So, two things I learnt today:
1. Babies dislike wax
2. Macro lenses take good photos of wrinkles
